The 1792 Half Disme is considered by many to be the first half dime struck (approximately 1,500 pieces) even though the denomination wasn't monetized through official channels until 1794. It circulated as a normal coin which is why the vast majority of the remaining coins have wear. This specimen is a choice original coin for the grade having a bluish gray original color and full and sharp details. All of the lettering is complete and the coin has really good eye appeal. An extremely desirable coin for the serious collector. It is also listed as one of the 100 Greatest US Coins from Jeff Garrett's and Ron Guth's book. From the Old Roswell Mill collection.
