Cohen-2, Manley Die State 2.0. The present coin offered is considered by specialists and general numismatic experts to be of the utmost rarity in choice condition. This example of the issue is a survivor from a population of coins manufactured on spoiled large cents and corroded planchets. Thus, the coins are virtually always found dark, porous, and corroded. After many years of study, the present author considers this coin to be one of the choicest examples in existence. The piece offered has been struck on a smooth, chocolate brown planchet that exhibits rich gloss across the surfaces. A good strike is found on this coin with almost all of the denticles seen on both obverse and reverse. In summation, the coin offered here is a rare opportunity for the advanced numismatist, and the knowledgeable collector will not be slow to acquire such an example.
