The 1836 Gobrecht Dollar struck in silver is one of the monumental coins that many numismatists aspire to someday own. Struck after a proposition to rekindle the silver dollar denomination, this particular specimen is most likely from the batch of 1,000 coins paid out by the banks in December of 1836 (determined by Die Alignment I, as seen on this piece). This example is a very pleasing representation of this American rarity. Awesome strike with full details on the eagle's feathers, and both sides exhibit a wonderful "old silver" patina with shades of blue and champagne toning. Absolutely a wonderful coin for the grade.
